Markus Breunig is full professor at the Technical University of Rosenheim, where he focuses on business-relevant aspects of computer science. His areas of specialization include data science, machine learning, AI, big data technologies, interaction design, as well as product management and innovation.

Before joining the Computer Science department, Markus worked in various executive positions from startups to major international corporations. Among other things, he led product management for Broadband Routers at Gigaset Communications and global portfolio and design management for cordless phones at Siemens SHC.

Markus began his career at a Silicon Valley startup, which was later acquired by Microsoft, and is still active as a consultant in the Bay Area startup scene. Markus earned a doctorate in Data Mining at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Stanford University, USA. He is the author of various specialist publications and patents in the field of machine learning, data science and network infrastructure.
